What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than relaxing at a BBQ with family and friends and enjoying a seasonal summer brew? In honor of this Independence Day, I've selected 3 summer beers that represent 3 different regions of the U.S.
Let's start with the founding father of the craft brew movement, the West Coast's own Anchor Brewing Company and their Summer beer. Based out of San Francisco, Anchor brews a traditional, top-fermenting all-malt ale and although it is a hearty dark beer, it produces a light crisp taste.Next is the Midwest's own Goose Island Beer Company and their Summertime session ale. Located out of Chicago, Goose Island produces a Kolsch, a German-styled wheat brew, that has a light fuity aroma with just a hint of fuity acity.
Finally, one of my favority local New England breweries, is the Wachusett Brewery Company and their Summer Ale. Based out of Westminster, MA, Wachusett produces an American wheat ale with a hint of lemon.
